NYC to unroll a major women healthcare agenda
While our newsletter focuses on developments in technology and research on women’s health, we would like to launch into 2023 with something different.
It is impossible not to acknowledge how strongly women’s health and wellbeing depends on culture and politics. The extent to which the research of women’s health conditions is underfunded is staggering. When it comes to investment -- whether into research or tech -- men’s health is consistently prioritized over women’s. The pervasive cultural norms preventing women from getting the care they need and deserve leave us wondering whether we truly are living in the 21st century.
While we are fascinated by strides that technology makes, its real impact will be felt only when accompanied with policies that prioritize women’s health. This is why we were thrilled that NYC is putting women’s health at the forefront of its agenda. “Women’s health needs some intensive care” says Mayor Eric Adams and we could not agree more. We highly enjoyed hearing the governor pronounce words “vagina” and “menopause” and are excited about women’s health finally getting the attention it deserves. Here’s to good news for women in 2023!
